Just wanted to give you guys a little update:
Bailee's surgery went well on Monday. She came through with flying colors, and aside from a little nausea from the anesthesia, she was doing great.
Tuesday she seemed to be even better...playing, laughing, singing. We thought for sure that she would be going home on Wednesday. All we were waiting on was them to remove the catheter, but they were waiting on that because her output was still discolored.
Our hopes for going home were dashed on Wednesday. She was very lethargic and didn't have an appetite at all. At most, she ate a handful of grapes and a small handful of Fruit Loops. She laid around watching movies, but other than that didn't do too much. She spiked a fever during the night on Wednesday, but we took care of that (or so we thought) with a little Lortab.
Thursday--the WORST day of our lives--Bailee's heart rate began to climb rapidly. When they became concerned, it had reached 181 beats per minute. They then hooked her up to monitors, and we continued to watch it grow in excess of 195-200. Then the barage of testing began: ultrasounds, X-rays, and lots of bloodwork. She has had a cough and some congestion, so they were concerned she might have pneumonia, and the x-ray revealed a shadow" on one lung, but they still don't think this is it. We have now determined (or are close to determining--still waiting on one test result) that she has a kidney infection. They have started her on a broad spectrum antibiotic to cover everything (including pneumonia). Once she got a dose of that antibiotic she immediately began to feel better.
Friday has been a better day. She may require a blood transfusion because of the amount of blood that she has lost, and we'll know for sure after lunch today when they draw more blood. At this point, we don't know when we'll be home, and we could still use everyone's prayers.
We appreciate all your thoughts and prayers and those who have called, emailed, or come by to visit. I am so fortuntate to have such an amazing and supportive work family, and in times like this it is a great source of comfort. We truly serve an amazing God and we know that He is going to take care of us!
