Roaring 20s

We've been studying the Roaring 20s in our social studies classes, so being that today was a half-day, we (my partner-in-crime, Robin and I) decided it would be a good day for something different! We set up three stations: jazz, silent films, and a speakeasy. She and I taught approximately 120 5th graders how to dance the Charleston, and we had a BLAST! "Snake" and "Johnny" (aka Trevor and Quinn) hosted the session on jazz, and Pam dressed as Charlie Chaplin to teach about silent films. It was a great morning!

I LOVE working with this fantastic, motivated, passionate group of teachers!!!

Girl Time

Bailee and I had a little Girl Time tonight after dinner, and we baked some chocolate chip cookie brownies. She insisted on helping pour, stir, and taste! She got to wear her apron and chef's hat she got for Christmas from my cousin Susie in Indiana, and looked pretty darn cute! There were multiple steps involved, so about half-way through, she became distracted and ran off to play with Beau. I must say, it was a dessert well worth the work!!! Yummy!

Sesame Street Live

We took Bailee to see Sesame Street Live: When Elmo Grows Up on Saturday at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium. She had a great time and behaved very well! She waved and called each character by name, and we know she thoroughly enjoyed herself! It was a treat for us to see her so excited about something, so we enjoyed ourselves also!

Dance Party

Last night, Bailee and I were cleaning up the kitchen after dinner and were jamming to the iPod. When she started dancing, I joined in, and we had ourselves a little dance party! She is so much fun at this age!!!

I'm Baaaaack!

This past Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I had the privilege (yes, privilege) of taking 76 fifth graders on a field trip to the Barrier Islands. It was freezing, but perfect! We slept in cabins by the beach, walked through the salt marsh, and trooped through camp in the rain....and it was so much fun! We were busy the entire time and there was always somewhere to be or something to do. We had an old-school dance, sang songs by a camp fire, did some team-building, and played all sorts of games. I am so thankful for this opportunity, and I feel truly blessed to work with a great group of teachers that like to have lots of fun and students that continue to surprise me all the time!

Outdoor Fun

We have taken advantage of some unseasonably warm weather recently and enjoyed some time outside. We have riden her new tricycle, gone for wagon rides, and played on the swingset. Here is a glimpse of some of the fun we've had:
