I'm long over-due on a post, but since it's been so long since I last posted, I spent several minutes trying to remember my password to log back in. Ultimately, I had to reset my password because nothing I tried worked. Pathetic, I know.
Here's my excuse: Winter didn't really happen here this year. It has just sort of felt like fall/ spring through December, January, and February. But a busy three months they have been! So in my mind, it should already be summer and we should be on vacation. But alas, it's only the first part of March.
With all that we've had going on, we decided that a joint birthday party would be a good idea this year. I was never big on that idea because I always wanted the kids to have their own special day, but with all the traveling that Patrick's been doing lately, the only time we could celebrate would be one Saturday in the entire month of February. Anywho, we had a special announcement for the kids. More to come on that later.
The kids are super in to Disney Channel, specifically Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. (This suits me just fine because I have bad association with Nick, Jr., but that's a convo for another day!) Anyway, we decided we'd have a Mickey/ Minnie birthday party. Unless you live under a rock, you've heard about Pinterest, which is where I was able to find lots of cute ideas for the decorations. And thanks to www.etsy.com, I found some other really cute party items. I was excited about all of this and couldn't wait to see it come together.
Nathan's contribution to the decor...a Picasso-like Mickey.
Bailee's Masterpiece...please be sure to note the pattern on Minnie's letters. She is very attentive to details such as this. Mommy's little OCD child.
I thought I had every minute detail thought of, but think again. We had a huge turn-out (definitely not complaining because we have some AWESOME friends!!!), but when all the kids (read: HUNGRY kids!) got their food, there wasn't much left for the adults. That's when my Heroes of the Day, Uncle Bran-Bran and Potsy, swept in to my rescue. Off they went to pick up more burgers and hotdogs. (And about seven more packs of buns, which we'll be using to feed the ducks until 2015!)
Yummy cupcakes thanks to Aunt Allison!

The proof is in that smile! Yum, yum! GOOD!
So back to the announcement. Yes, we were telling the kids that they were going to Disney World. I am so excited (and a little overwhelmed!) by all that there is to do, so we've decided to put off our trip until October/ November. There's a nice long weekend built in to our school calendar, and with Bailee starting K5 next year, it'll be important for us to work around our school schedule. Long story, short...the plan was to reveal this to the kids at their party. I was all hyped; expecting a reaction nothing short of what you see on tv. My sweet friend Robin was lucky enough to capture this priceless moment. Maybe we'll become the next internet sensation. Nah.
The moment before our big "reveal."
Anyway, it turned out to be a great party. Thanks to all of our wonderful friends who came out to be with us and a special thanks to all that helped with the party. We are so blessed to have two healthy, beautiful children! I have a hard time believing that Nathan is two, much less that Bailee is five and will be starting kindergarten in the fall!
Maybe it won't be another year before my next post (and I won't have to reset my password again!)
